The Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) is set to introduce a new assessment model to determine if foreign-educated nurses and midwives are qualified to work in Australia.

The current assessment model uses eight criteria. That number will be streamlined and reduced to three criteria in the new system.

The most interesting aspect of this recent development is the implementation of an Outcomes-Based Assessment (OBA) that will replace the existing bridging program.
