Student Visa (Subclass 500)
This visa allows you to stay in Australia to study full-time in a recognized education institution. The Simplified Student Visa Framework (SSVF) has been implemented since July 2016. All international students may now apply for a single visa regardless of the course(s) selected.
Eligibility
Before you apply for this visa, you must:
- have been accepted to study full-time at an educational institution in Australia in a course of study registered on the Commonwealth Register of Institutions and courses for Overseas for Overseas Students (CRICOS)
- include a Confirmation of Enrollment (CoE) if you are applying from overseas
- have organized appropriate welfare arrangements for the duration of your intended stay in Australia if you are under 18 years of age.
- be at least 6 years of age
- provide evidence of English language skills
- provide evidence of financial capacity
- meet health and character requirements
- have health insurance
This visa allows you to:
- study a CRICOS registered full-time course in Australia for up to 5 years
- have eligible family members accompany you to Australia
Student Guardian Visa (Subclass 590)
This visa allows you to stay in Australia as the guardian of an international student younger than 18 years of age studying in Australia on a student visa.
Eligibility
You must:
- be a parent or person who has custody of the student, or a relative who is 21 years or older and has been nominated in writing by a parent or someone who has custody of the student
- be able to provide accommodation, general welfare and support to the student, and
- not bring family members younger than 6 years of age, except under certain circumstances
- meet health and character requirements
- have enough money to support yourself, any dependants accompanying you and the student
- have adequate health insurance for you and any dependants coming with you
- not owe any money to the Australian government or have arranged to repay any money owed
- only stay in Australia temporarily
- provide biometric information if we ask for it
